President

Nicole Barlow (BSc, Earth Science/Geography) founded Purple Rock Inc and now serves as its President. She mentors and manages the team, coordinates efforts and liaises with external organizations and other contractors to complete multi-year projects for multiple clients. She has a passion for helping geologists clarify their message and connecting problems with solutions.

James R. (Jim) Barlow P.Eng.

Director, Technology

As Director, Jim contributes business and technical insight to Purple Rock Inc, especially for work that intersects with technology. Jim comes to Purple Rock with experience in software design, which he uses to improve the team’s overall efficiency and connectivity. He is also integral in leading the company into new endeavours. Jim has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with distinction from the University of Victoria and is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC.

Karl Flower

Geoscience Information Analyst

Karl Flower (BSc, Earth Science/Geography) has worked with Purple Rock Inc since 2008, prior to which, he worked for industry and for government. He has an uncanny ability to georeference archival documents with only snippets of geographical information. In his spare time, Karl enjoys fishing, panning for gold, and exploring BC’s natural wonders.

Savanna Kirshfelt

Geological Information Analyst

After working in industry, Savanna joined Purple Rock in 2013. Savanna has a BSc (Earth and Ocean Science) with a background in geophysics. She draws on her past experience to apply a critical eye to technical papers and locate long overlooked sources for incomplete or out of date mineral occurrences.

Moretta Shuert

Associate Science Editor

Moretta has a BSc in Biology, as well as training in copy editing. She uses her expertise and attention to detail in both editing technical papers and ensuring consistency and accuracy in our digital document databases.

Alexandra Hunter

Associate Editor

Alexandra has a BA in Modern Languages and a TESL diploma, and has been editing for Purple Rock since 2009. Alexandra's experience teaching English and fluency in French and Spanish give her particular insight in editing papers written by non-native English-speaking authors. As a senior writer and technical editor for Intel Security in Waterloo, ON, she brings her expertise in user experience and content design to academic editing. She is working toward a User Experience Interaction Designer Certification from Akendi, Toronto, ON.
